On the final day, it was time to bring out the unexpected surprises, which is precisely when Amigo The Devil walked out to the sole spotlight and began to pluck the palm-muted notes of “Murder At The Bingo Hall.” To say that Amigo The Devil stood out on this lineup is to imply that the Pacific Ocean is somewhat moist. It was almost comically absurd to consider that one man armed with an acoustic guitar (and sometimes a Banjo) would be saddled on the same stage and in between Harm’s Way and Scour.
In actuality, despite the folk-tinge of his music, Amigo’s songs are pitch black, containing some of the most twisted and grotesque lyrics. Sure, the fans in the packed room of the Rave did not need to growl the words, but it did not make it any less gritty to sing along to the twisted love song, “Hell And You.”
Of course, being in Milwaukee and specifically at a venue across from the Ambassador Hotel, Danny took a special moment to point out that playing the song “Dahmer Does Hollywood” was pretty much unavoidable. It was by far the most bizarre and unique set the festival has had in three years, but fans were gripped and spilling out to the hallways till the end, singing along to the final closer, “A Drop For Every Hour.”
