The Eagles Ballroom at The Rave was bursting at the seams as sound check was preparing for Suicide Silence. We were surrounded by a sea of blue and yellow lights, revealing the opera boxes that hung all around us. The room was filled with palpable anticipation that continued to suffocate us even more every minute that ticked by.
Suddenly, the lights shot straight to the middle of the stage, and screams echoed throughout the room. Suicide Silence ran out on stage with the energy of a bullet. Eddie Hermida’s vocals were as brutal live as they are on record, moving seamlessly from piercing shrieks to those signature low growls. As they played “You Only Live Once,” the mosh grew into a warzone of bodies, sweat, and raw adrenaline.
By the end of the show, our shirts were soaked through with sweat and pure rage. Everyone was itching – begging for more. Suicide Silence slaughtered more than just a stage tonight. They made a community built on blast beats and brutal honesty.
