Melvins 1983 – the OG lineup with Buzz Osborne and original drummer Mike Dillard – just unleashed their latest sonic beast, Thunderball, via Ipecac Recordings!
Last month, they gave us a taste with the rowdy ripper “King of Rome,” and you can feast your eyes on the trippy visualizer below. The track even features a wild assist from avant-electronic wizards Void Manes and Ni Maîtres. As Buzz himself puts it: “The ‘King of Rome’!! Hot Cross Buns! This song is a hot little punk rock number. I hope all of you enjoy it and tell your friends.”
So, what are you waiting for? Grab your copy of Thunderball right here and choose from three vinyl flavors – including the indie-only “Smoke Is A Color” and the Ipecac webstore-exclusive “Special Mustard Gas.” Prefer digital or CD? They’ve got you covered.

Thunderball tracklisting:
1. King of Rome
2. Vomit of Clarity
3. Short Hair With A Wig
4. Victory of the Pyramids
5. Venus Blood
And if that’s not enough Melvins madness, they’re currently melting faces across the U.S. with Napalm Death on the “Savage Imperial Death March Part II” – a nine-week, no-holds-barred tour that kicked off April 4. It’s a reunion of epic proportions, following the chaos of their 2016 tour. Catch Buzz Osborne, Dale Crover, Steven McDonald, and Coady Willis live and loud near you!
We caught the Melvins tearing it up in Dallas, TX last night, and we’ve got the photographic evidence to back it up. Dive into our concert gallery below and witness their awesomeness for yourself!
