At Milwaukee Metal Fest 2025, we locked horns on-camera with Wraith, Indiana’s hell-forged masters of blackened thrash, for a conversation as savage as their riffs.
Emerging from the infernal depths of Indiana, Wraith has been a relentless force in the blackened thrash and speed metal scene since their formation in 2016. Founded by guitarist and vocalist Matt Sokol, the band channels the raw aggression of early Slayer and Venom, fused with the punk-infused ferocity reminiscent of Toxic Holocaust.
Their latest onslaught, Fueled by Fear, released on June 28, 2024, via Prosthetic Records, stands as their most formidable release to date. This 14-track barrage delivers a 45-minute assault of razor-sharp riffs, maniacal solos, and thunderous drumming, all wrapped in a punk overdrive that adds an extra edge to their merciless sound.
Self-produced in Griffith, Indiana, and engineered, mixed, and mastered by CJ Rayson, the album captures the raw punk edge of their previous releases while elevating their sound to new heights. Tracks like “Merchant of Death” and “Heathen’s Touch” showcase their ability to blend fast and aggressive bangers with killer slow tracks, delivering a dynamic and intense listening experience.
With a relentless drive and a commitment to their craft, Wraith continues to carve their path in the metal world, delivering music that’s as thought-provoking as it is brutal.
